Trekking at Slieve Aughty Centre

Surrounded by more than 50 miles of Coillte forest paths and country lanes,  horse trekking is a great way to spend an hour or two with friends or family.

Suitable for beginners or advanced riders, all treks are guided and tailored for the riders ability. Never been on a horse before? An hour on one of our quiet mounts is a great introduction, with the beauty of the forest to calm your nerves and an experienced guide to support you.

For more advanced riders, narrow, mucky paths lead to rocky river crossings and long, straight tree-lined paths are ideal for a good canter. If you fancy spending the day on horseback, book a day tour; a 5-6 hour scenic ride with a picnic stop in a grassy meadow. (Not recommended for beginners).

For the very young, let one of our staff take your little boy or girl for a lead rein - a short ride on a quiet pony with someone leading the entire way.

After your ride, relax in the restaurant for complimentary tea and coffee, or stay for a delicious home-cooked organic lunch or our famous pancakes with sweet toppings.
