Oysters and Horses: If you like riding horses and eating oysters, this is the perfect break for you. Book a 2-4 day short getaway with Slieve Aughty Centre during the Galway Oyster Festival Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th of September, and you can do both! Choose one day that you would like to attend the Oyster Festival and we'll arrange taxi service to and from Galway and send you with a picnic lunch. Began in 1954, the Oyster Festival is known throughout the world and in 2000 the London Sunday Times declared the festival one of the 12 greatest shows on Earth. October Fest: Combine a short horse riding getaway with a visit to one of Europe's most famous horse fairs: the Ballinasloe October Horse Fair and Festival. The Ballinasloe Horse Fair and Festival takes place the first week in October each year, from October 2nd to the 10th. Although no one knows exactly how long the fair has been around, references date back to the early 1800's. Today the fair is a horse lovers paradise. Book a 2 day to one week getaway during the Ballinasloe Fair and chose any one or two days to attend the fair, all arranged by us. For the other day or days you are here, we'll take you horse riding for 2 to 3 hours each day in the surrounding Kylebrack Forest. With more than 50 miles of trails, there is somewhere new to explore each day. Want to focus on cross country jumping or add a lesson from one of our qualified instructors? No problem! We are happy to cater to your ability and desire. In the evenings, relax around a crackling fire in a cottage or chalet, and enjoy healthy, home cooked meals, made with organic ingredients grown on the property.
